The "Pesticides Package" has finally been published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU L309 of 24/11/2009)! It includes:
- The EC Regulation No. 1107/2009 of 21 October 2009 replacing Directive 91/414/EEC. It enters into force on 14/12/2009 and shall apply from 14/06/2011.
Directives 91/414/EEC and 79/117/EEC are repealed.
This Regulation lays down rules regarding plant protection products, active substances, safeners, synergists, adjuvants and co-formulants.

Directive 2009/128/EC of 21 October 2009 establishing a framework for Community action to achieve the sustainable use of pesticides. It has entered into force on 25/11/2009.
This Directive establishes a framework to achieve a sustainable use of pesticides by reducing the risks and impacts of pesticide use on human health and the environment and promoting the use of integrated pest management and of alternative approaches or techniques such as non-chemical alternatives to pesticides. In order to facilitate the implementation of this Directive, Member States shall adopt National Action Plans.
