Services - Modelling / Risk assessment

Context:

To register a new active substance or a new chemical, plant protection product, biocidal product or fertilliser, you should submit according to specific requirements, risk assessments for human health and environment which result of use of your product.

At your request, A.S.C. can:

  • evaluate existing studies and identify missing or critical data,

  • estimate any missing critical parameter such as Henry’s law constant, partition coefficient (log Pow), tropospheric half-life (according to Atkinson) with computer modelling (Quantitative Structure-Activity Reliationships = QSARs),

  • define end-points for:
    • man (AOEL, ADI, ARfD, MRL),
    • environment (Koc, DT50, biodegradability),
    • non-target organisms (LD50, LC50, NOEC…).

  • prepare risk assessment according to European or National models for:
    • operator/applicator, workers, bystanders exposed to pesticides (UK-POEM, BBA, PHED, EUROPOEM II),
    • workers exposed to chemical products (EASE),
    • consumers exposed to pesticide residues (AESE, WHO, National (like French Cugier model) models,
    • consumers exposed to chemical products contained in formulations or articles (ConsExpo),
    • bystanders exposed to products via environment (EUSES v2.1),
    • man exposed to biocides according to "Technical Notes for Guidance on Human Exposure",
    • fate and behaviour in environment (calculation of PEC, FOCUS GW and FOCUS SW modelling, calculation of biocidal PEC according to ESD (Emission Scenario Documents)),
    • distribution of active substance in different compartments of environment (Mackay model),
    • non-target organisms (TER or PEC/PNEC calculation).

  • create a database with IUCLID 5 software,
  • evaluate chemical substance hazard via use of (Q)SAR models (Toxtree for example).
